Celebration of European Day of Languages - 8th Primary School of Thebes Greece
The European Day of Languages is a celebration of the amazing number and variety of languages spoken across Europe. Schools and organisations mark the event every year with a European languages day to promote language learning and to celebrate the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe. The European Day of Languages is celebrated annually on the 26th of September. Students from 8th Primary School of Thebes celebrated this big event. We explained the aims and history of the European Day of Languages and played fun quizzes on key information about the event, different languages, and flags. We talked about the importance of learning a foreign language. We learned about 'loanwords' which appear in different languages, and thought about ways to identify meaning. We decided to create a lovely poster featuring the word 'talk to me!' written in a number of different European languages. We also created a video using Canva about the importance of learning foreign languages...
